Responsibilities
- Improve the architecture, stability, correctness, and performance of the core Gecko accessibility engine.
- Debug and fix problems in the multi-process, multi-threaded codebase and resolve operating-system-specific issues.
- Write code, tests, specifications, and prototypes and analyze data.
- Collaborate with browser, design, and front-end teams to identify, assess, and remediate accessibility issues.
- Influence web standards that improve access to new web technologies.
- Work on infrastructure that exposes the web platform to accessibility technology.
- Implement new web features and meet Gecko memory-use and performance standards.
- Engage with Mozilla’s global open-source community and synthesize user feedback into bug reports, feature designs, and strategic direction.
Requirements
- A degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency with C++.
- Knowledge of web accessibility and ARIA.
- Knowledge of JavaScript, the web, and web applications.
- Experience working on cross-platform native applications.
- Experience writing and debugging multi-process, multi-threaded code.
- Creative problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Ability to learn a large and complex multi-language codebase.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to participate effectively in a geographically distributed open development team.
- Passion for empowering and improving the web for people with diverse abilities.
