Base Salary
$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and architecture of scalable, elastic distributed systems for hyperscale workloads.
- Design fault-tolerant and highly available systems with redundancy, replication, failover, load shedding, throttling, and rate limiting.
- Define scalability requirements, optimize performance, and establish SLOs, KPIs, telemetry, dashboards, and alerts.
- Design performance, load, fault-injection, and brownout testing and implement replication and synchronization mechanisms.
- Diagnose production issues, guide incident response and root cause analysis, and ensure operational readiness.
- Develop infrastructure-as-code and automation for safe patching, updates, upgrades, and rollbacks.
- Implement encryption, access controls, security remediation, and compliance practices for multi-tenant environments.
- Manage moderately complex initiatives and collaborate with teams and stakeholders to deliver customer-focused solutions.
- Coach and mentor junior engineers, support talent development, and participate in candidate interviews and hiring recommendations.
- Identify improvements to processes, workflows, and team effectiveness.
Requirements
- Principal-level software engineering experience is indicated by the Principal Software Engineer title and IC4 career level.
- Experience designing scalable, elastic, distributed, fault-tolerant, and highly available systems is required.
- Ability to work with distributed state management, data-plane platforms, replication, synchronization, observability, and resilience mechanisms is required.
- Experience with production troubleshooting, incident response, root cause analysis, operational readiness, and in-service maintenance is required.
- Knowledge of encryption, access controls, security remediation, compliance, and multi-tenant environments is required.
- Experience developing infrastructure-as-code and cloud infrastructure automation for patching, upgrades, and rollbacks is required.
- Ability to manage moderately complex initiatives, provide technical oversight, mentor engineers, collaborate cross-functionally, and contribute to hiring is required.
