Responsibilities
- Define and own the target-state architecture for the trading backend and guide its pragmatic evolution toward modular, independently deployable, horizontally scalable services.
- Improve platform resilience, safe failover, capacity planning, and predictable, reversible deployment changes.
- Ensure correct and predictable-latency behavior for risk evaluation, stop-out and close-out, margin, and order execution during peak load and volatile market events.
- Establish engineering patterns, performance budgets, observability, and testing practices for the real-time trading system.
- Lead through architecture, design, code, reference implementations, difficult investigations, and durable improvements based on incident learnings.
- Mentor senior engineers and partner with SRE/infra, risk, product, pricing, compliance, web, mobile, and partner API teams.
Requirements
- Deep experience building and evolving trading-core or execution-engine backends within a broker, exchange, or trading venue.
- Expert Java experience developing high-throughput, low-latency concurrent systems.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of trading-platform risk management, margin calculations, order execution, and real-time financial processing.
- Experience designing scalable distributed systems with strong resilience, messaging, and failover capabilities.
- Proven experience modernizing complex production systems while maintaining availability and stability.
- Strong understanding of leveraged trading products, particularly CFDs or related derivatives.
- Highly desirable: experience extending platforms with derivative products or trading functionality, event-driven architectures, real-time market-data distribution, FIX protocol, multi-asset trading platforms, retail trading, CFD brokerage, or trading-platform environments.
