Base Salary

$180k - $248k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop real-time, high-performance perception software for automated forklift and loading dock automation systems.
  • Serve as a leading technical contributor within the Perception organization and collaborate with broader engineering teams.
  • Mentor and grow engineers and help build the team’s technical capabilities.
  • Analyze product-performance issues, identify root causes, and apply systems-level thinking across perception and the broader system.
  • Drive project scoping, requirements specification, and long-term technical roadmaps.
  • Represent engineering in technical discussions with customer program stakeholders and own relevant customer-facing KPIs as needed.
  • Operate across Perception, Controls, system architecture, CI/CD practices, and cross-team planning when required.
  • Build high-quality software and drive engineering best practices and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience developing software for complex, real-time systems.
  • Deep robotics perception expertise in SLAM, sensor fusion, state estimation, computer vision, and real-time processing of multiple cameras and/or LiDAR sensors.
  • Track record of bringing complex robotic systems into production and delivering measurable value such as improved uptime, throughput, or fault reduction.
  • Experience leading complex engineering efforts and delivering production systems while maintaining a healthy team.
  • Experience mentoring or growing other engineers.
  • Experience working beyond Perception in areas such as Controls, system architecture, CI/CD, planning, or customer-facing KPI ownership.
  • Experience developing software for embedded or GPU-accelerated platforms, such as Nvidia platforms, is a plus.
  • Experience with Linux development, Docker, asynchronous or multithreaded programming, event-driven architectures, messaging systems, and protocols such as ROS and ROS2.
  • Experience with Agile development methodology.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to engage directly with customer and program stakeholders on technical scope and tradeoffs.
  • Prior experience with autonomous mobile robots, automated forklifts, or similarly complex, safety-relevant automated systems is strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive and/or fly to client and customer locations.
