[EJV] Senior Telematics Software Engineer — Embedded Android

Responsibilities

  • Own the strategy and execution plan for migrating the embedded Linux telematics framework to AOSP/Android Automotive.
  • Re-architect CAN/CAN-FD, J1939, ISOBUS, UDS, and DoIP interfaces as Vehicle HAL extensions or native AIDL/HIDL services.
  • Port cellular modem, RIL/Telephony, GNSS, MQTT/HTTPS telemetry, remote diagnostics, fleet-management, and OTA capabilities to Android.
  • Adapt eCall, ERA-GLONASS, tachograph, driver-data, emissions, and usage-reporting features to Android’s process and permission model.
  • Define SELinux policies, Android permission boundaries, secure boot, and verified-boot protections for the migrated platform.
  • Build and maintain the AOSP build system, device tree, and BSP integration for target TCU hardware.
  • Define regression, bench, performance, and vehicle-level testing to validate parity between Linux and Android implementations.
  • Coordinate phased or parallel-run migration plans with platform, BSP, cloud/backend, and OEM customer teams.
  • Document architecture decisions and mentor engineers working on embedded Android.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of embedded software development experience in automotive, telematics, or IoT.
  • Strong C/C++ and Java/Kotlin experience, including C++14 or later and Android-layer development.
  • Hands-on embedded Android/AOSP experience with HALs, VHAL or custom HALs, AIDL/HIDL, system services, SELinux policy, and the Android build system.
  • Experience with LTE/5G modem integration, RIL, GNSS, MQTT, TLS, REST, Android OTA mechanisms, and secure or verified boot.
  • Experience migrating a substantial embedded system between operating systems, including gap analysis, phased cutover, and regression-risk management.
  • Proficiency with Vector CANoe/CANalyzer, bus analyzers, JTAG/Lauterbach debuggers, Git, and CI/CD.
  • Experience with Embedded Linux telematics platforms using Yocto or Buildroot.
  • Knowledge of CAN, CAN-FD, J1939, UDS, DoIP, and at least one of ISOBUS, FMS, or Automotive Ethernet/SOME-IP.
  • Preferred experience includes Android Automotive OS, Vehicle HAL, AUTOSAR Classic or Adaptive, ISO/SAE 21434, UNECE R155/R156, ISO 26262, eCall, ERA-GLONASS, digital tachograph, emissions telematics, Automotive SPICE, and global OEM collaboration.
