
Sr Software Engineer
GE VernovaResponsibilities
- Lead architecture and implementation decisions across AWS infrastructure, backend services, APIs, and frontend applications.
- Design scalable Python backend services and REST APIs with emphasis on reliability and maintainability.
- Own AWS architecture decisions involving compute, networking, IAM, security, cost optimization, scalability, and reliability.
- Drive Docker and Kubernetes containerization and orchestration, preferably in EKS environments.
- Provide technical oversight for frontend and UI development and establish component and application architecture standards.
- Partner with data science and analytics teams to productionize AI, ML, and LLM capabilities.
- Establish responsible-use standards and guardrails for AI-assisted coding tools, including security, intellectual property, and data privacy considerations.
- Lead code reviews, technical design discussions, implementation planning, CI/CD, automated testing, DevOps practices, and release quality.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to technical interviews, hiring, onboarding, and team capability development.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, engineering leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver roadmap-aligned solutions.
Requirements
- 6 to 9 years of professional software engineering experience, including experience influencing architecture, mentoring engineers, and driving technical decisions.
- Deep hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, ECS or EKS, IAM, S3, Lambda, and VPC.
- Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes and production AWS deployments.
- Strong Python backend development experience building scalable services and REST APIs.
- Strong frontend and UI development knowledge, preferably Angular, with ability to guide architecture and review code.
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational database design, including schema design, query optimization, and data access strategies.
- Experience designing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
- Understanding of microservices architecture, modular application design, distributed systems, secure coding, code quality, production support, and maintainability.
- Professional experience using GitHub Copilot and Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a STEM major for roles outside the USA.
- Java and Spring Boot experience is preferred.
- AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification is preferred.
- Experience with MongoDB or Redis and familiarity with MLOps and integrating SageMaker or Bedrock into production systems are preferred.
- Experience establishing engineering standards, responsible AI-assisted development practices, or usage guardrails is preferred.
- Enterprise SaaS, B2B, cloud-native platform engineering, or energy, industrial, and oil and gas domain experience is advantageous.
