Responsibilities
- Lead systems engineering and algorithm development for space and missile defense tracking missions.
- Architect and implement object tracking and state estimation algorithms, including track initiation, maintenance, correlation, and termination.
- Design and evaluate multi-target tracking and multi-sensor fusion approaches for EO/IR, RF, and hybrid sensor architectures.
- Implement and optimize JPDA, MHT, nearest-neighbor, and track-to-track fusion methods.
- Build physics-based models and conduct Monte Carlo analysis, recorded sensor playback, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Analyze tracking robustness under maneuvering targets, clutter, countermeasures, and degraded sensing conditions.
- Transition MATLAB and Python tracking prototypes into production C/C++ code for real-time operational systems.
- Lead requirements decomposition, trade studies, verification and validation planning, design reviews, and technical documentation.
- Present at SRR, PDR, and CDR design reviews and customer engagements.
- Mentor engineers and advise program leadership on tracking performance, risks, and opportunities.
Requirements
- Active U.S. Secret security clearance that can be maintained.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and testing multi-target tracking algorithms for aerospace, defense, or autonomous systems.
- Demonstrated technical leadership through design leadership, mentoring, or subject matter expertise.
- Deep expertise in state estimation, including Kalman Filters, EKF, UKF, multi-target tracking, and IMM filters.
- Experience developing operational tracking algorithms covering track initiation, maintenance, correlation, and termination.
- Expert proficiency with MATLAB and/or Python and experience transitioning algorithms to C++ for production deployment.
- Extensive modeling, simulation, and testing experience, including Monte Carlo analysis, sensor data playback, or hardware-in-the-loop environments.
- Ability to collaborate with software, systems, and test engineers to integrate algorithms into operational systems.
- Strong communication skills and experience presenting technical concepts to engineers, program managers, and customers.
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field preferred.
- 10+ years of tracking algorithm development experience and defense or aerospace domain experience preferred.
- Experience with EO/IR or RF sensors, missile defense, space systems, kill vehicles, interceptors, or countermeasures preferred.
- Experience with real-time constraints, embedded systems, edge compute optimization, MBSE tools, advanced tracking techniques, and government customers preferred.
