Base Salary
$200k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set technical strategy and architecture for onboard navigation and pose-estimation systems.
- Design and develop sensor-fusion and pose-estimation approaches using IMU, camera, and lidar sensors.
- Lead the direction of visual and lidar odometry algorithms and evaluate build-versus-adopt tradeoffs.
- Define navigation metrics and evaluation methodologies for algorithm and system performance.
- Act as a technical escalation point for complex, ambiguous, or cross-cutting localization problems.
- Evaluate sensor performance, optimize sensor selection, and verify sensor calibrations, settings, and uncertainty characterizations.
- Mentor engineers, improve team technical practices, and write design documentation to gather cross-functional feedback.
Requirements
- BS, MS, or PhD with academic or industry experience building navigation, localization, and odometry systems.
- Expertise in C++ and strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong software engineering experience building high-reliability deployed applications and maintainable code.
- Deep experience transforming GNSS, IMU, wheel-speed, and other raw sensor data into 6-DOF pose using Kalman filtering, factor graphs, or comparable state-estimation techniques.
- Experience with computer vision, visual odometry, and/or odometry from point clouds.
- A history of mentoring engineers and elevating team technical practices.
- Ability to work hands-on across engineering disciplines, build infrastructure from scratch, iterate quickly, and communicate through clear technical documentation.
