$160k - $291k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and own simulation environments for manipulation, perception, and navigation validation.
- Model robot platforms using physically accurate dynamics, kinematics, and actuation.
- Implement realistic sensor models for RGB-D cameras, LiDAR, and other supported sensors.
- Build scene and facility authoring tools, including CAD and plant-model import paths.
- Integrate simulation into CI so scenario coverage runs on every release candidate.
- Support AI teams with simulation for data generation and policy evaluation.
- Drive the virtual commissioning and digital twin roadmap, including workcell import and collaborative authoring.
- Quantify and document divergence between simulation and hardware.
- Support other teams as an infrastructure owner.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 4+ years building or operating robotics simulation.
- Experience validating real robot behavior against simulation and closing the simulation-to-hardware gap.
- M.S. degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field, or equivalent industry experience with demonstrated simulation depth.
- Hands-on experience with a commercial or open-source simulator such as Process Simulate, Isaac Sim, or Gazebo.
- Strong understanding of rigid-body dynamics, contact modeling, numerical integration, and solver limitations.
- Experience with sensor simulation and rendering, including LiDAR and depth-camera models.
- Experience with GPU-accelerated or parallel simulation for large-scale data generation.
- Experience with URDF, SDF, and USD robot description formats and their conversion pitfalls.
- Proficiency in C++ and Python.
- Ability to assess required simulation fidelity, identify untrustworthy results, and balance speed against accuracy.
- Preferred experience with sim-to-real transfer, domain randomization, virtual commissioning, digital twins, Visual Components, Process Simulate, or ROS ecosystem contributions.
Benefits
- Medical, dental, vision, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Accounts, retirement savings, sickness and accident benefits, life insurance, paid vacation and holidays, tuition assistance, employee assistance, and GM vehicle discounts.
- Eligible employees may participate in a company vehicle evaluation program after a successful motor vehicle report review, subject to program requirements.
