Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable systems and user-facing workflows for Upstart Bank's core platform.
- Own technical design and delivery for medium-to-large engineering projects.
- Translate business, operational, and regulatory requirements into reliable software.
- Improve system reliability, performance, and data consistency across services.
- Contribute to architecture discussions for scalability and maintainability.
- Collaborate with product, compliance, and operations teams to deliver solutions.
- Uphold high engineering standards through code review and testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
- 4 years of experience building and operating production software systems.
- Experience in backend or full-stack environments.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, or Kotlin.
- Experience owning technical delivery of medium-to-large engineering projects.
