Responsibilities
- Build and ship high-quality Android experiences using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Own features end to end, from scoping and technical design through delivery and iteration.
- Develop maintainable, scalable, and testable mobile architectures.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams across multiple Proton product areas.
- Contribute to Proton’s shared Rust logical core and its interfaces with Android applications.
- Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar within the team.
- Address mobile performance, concurrency, multithreading, memory management, caching, networking, responsiveness, and offline behavior.
Requirements
- Extensive experience building and shipping high-quality Android applications with Kotlin.
- Strong experience with Jetpack Compose and modern Android development practices.
- Experience owning features through scoping, technical design, delivery, and iteration.
- Strong experience building maintainable, scalable, and testable mobile architectures.
- Experience working across large codebases and collaborating with multiple teams.
- Experience mentoring engineers.
- Strong understanding of performance, concurrency, multithreading, and mobile memory management.
- Understanding of mobile scalability, caching, network usage, responsiveness, and offline behavior.
- Rust experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience with privacy, security, encryption, sync systems, or offline-first architectures is a strong plus.
