Responsibilities
- Lead projects from scoping through implementation and successful launch.
- Design, implement, test, and operate performant and reliable software systems, including on-call ownership.
- Own services and significant areas of the codebase while developing deep domain expertise.
- Use AI coding agents to delegate implementation, evaluate outputs, and maintain production-readiness and audit-ready compliance.
- Explore AI tools, frameworks, agent orchestration workflows, prompt templates, and context frameworks.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, UX researchers, scientists, and business leaders.
- Identify and reduce technical debt and improve engineering practices.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical standards and decisions affecting multiple teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 7+ years of equivalent professional experience as a Software Engineer.
- Proficiency with distributed systems built on cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Proficiency in an established backend language such as Go, Java, Python, Scala, or Rust, or in TypeScript/React with a backend language.
- Daily hands-on use of AI coding harnesses and demonstrated ability to delegate implementation to AI agents.
- Understanding of software engineering practices including testing, code review, CI/CD, and observability.
- Ability to scope ambiguous projects, determine solutions, and launch implementations with minimal guidance.
- Product engineering mindset focused on customer and business outcomes.
- Experience mentoring engineers and improving the practices of teammates.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
- Familiarity with database design, data manipulation, and data quality techniques.
- Familiarity with regulated software systems, event-driven architectures, AWS technologies, serverless infrastructure, or the life sciences and pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
