Responsibilities
- Design and build reliable, secure, scalable backend software for complex problems.
- Contribute to architecture, engineering standards, security, performance, cost, and reliability practices.
- Review design documents and pull requests and maintain a high bar for code quality.
- Investigate production issues across multiple services and drive improvements from operational incidents.
- Own work items from concept through production, including delivery plans and dependency management.
- Partner with Product Managers to prioritize features and translate client requirements into technical specifications.
- Own incident resolution, including mitigation, fixes, and post-mortem documentation.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and lead technical interviews.
- Communicate technical problems and architectural decisions clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in modern backend languages, ideally Go or Python.
- Experience building distributed, cloud-native systems using technologies such as Kubernetes, AWS or GCP, gRPC, and PostgreSQL.
- Proven ability to break down ambiguous and complex problems into deliverable milestones.
- Experience supporting high-throughput production systems and diagnosing distributed-system issues.
- Collaborative, feedback-receptive approach focused on client and business outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including documenting technical designs and building consensus.
