Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver cloud-based infrastructure projects using Okta’s modern technology stack.
- Evaluate, develop, and roll out new common microservices.
- Operate, support, upgrade, and scale shared services and engineering frameworks.
- Conduct design and code reviews and write unit and functional tests.
- Monitor and troubleshoot owned services and frameworks.
- Collaborate with architects, QA, product owners, security, and operations engineers.
- Mentor new engineering hires and interns.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
- 7+ years of programming experience in an object-oriented language such as Java, particularly developing backend services.
- Strong understanding of multithreading, garbage collection, and memory management.
- 4+ years of experience with MySQL or equivalent relational database systems.
- Experience working with REST and understanding of its fundamentals.
- Knowledge of Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Tomcat, AWS, Redis, Elasticsearch, and Docker.
- Experience architecting, implementing, tuning, and debugging large cloud deployments.
- Familiarity with network security, authentication, authorization, enterprise SaaS, and Agile software development is preferred or beneficial.
- Demonstrated adherence to strong software engineering principles.
