Responsibilities
- Own Android development and build a strong understanding of the codebase and existing solutions.
- Select technologies and approaches based on technical problems and long-term product needs.
- Contribute across product development, including design, analytics, payments, and user authentication.
- Build features involving custom views, APIs, 2D/3D graphics, VR, AI, CRDT, and related technologies.
- Use Android libraries and Kotlin solutions.
- Help solve technical problems and provide practical solutions to the team.
- Develop a modular codebase, conduct code reviews, and follow coding standards.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams.
- Mentor developers and support hiring as the team grows.
Requirements
- 7+ years of Android development experience, including leadership experience.
- Extensive experience with Kotlin and Java.
- Extensive knowledge of the Android ecosystem, including Android SDK, Jetpack, Dagger, and common libraries.
- Experience with SQL, SQLite, and Room.
- Experience with concurrency and asynchronous programming using Kotlin Coroutines and RxJava.
- Experience with APIs, JSON, XML, Git, and Protobuf.
- Strong understanding of software design, code quality, and testing practices.
- Ability to write clean, readable, and maintainable code and make and explain technical decisions.
- Experience mentoring developers and providing constructive feedback.
- Strong ownership, clear communication, and ability to work with technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience with in-app payments and subscriptions.
- Fluent English.
- Experience with 2D/3D graphics using Canvas, OpenGL, Vulkan, or Google Filament is preferred.
