$171k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build new Android features and platform capabilities using autonomous vehicle data and operational insights.
- Develop features that support autonomous vehicle adoption on Uber’s platform.
- Lead technical projects from inception through design, deployment, and productionization.
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, operations teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
- Balance speed, performance, quality, and business objectives when making technical decisions.
- Define standards for testing, monitoring, and alerting systems and oversee complex incident management.
- Improve engineering velocity and quality through technical excellence, frameworks, and reduced systemic technical debt.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of software engineering work experience.
- Extensive hands-on Android development experience with Java and/or Kotlin, including code reviews.
- Experience leading technical projects end to end through all lifecycle stages.
- Expertise in testing, monitoring, alerting, and organizational incident management.
- Strong communication, collaboration, ownership, self-motivation, and learning orientation.
- Preferred: MS or PhD in a relevant field.
- Preferred: autonomous vehicle development, testing, or optimization experience.
- Preferred: product engineering experience and a business-driven approach to cross-functional collaboration.
- Preferred: experience developing mobile applications used by hundreds of millions of users and delivering high-quality mobile UI experiences.
- Preferred: strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, system design, and architecture.
- Preferred: experience identifying architectural gaps and creating organization-wide frameworks.
Benefits
- Base salary is USD $171,000-$190,000 per year for San Francisco and Seattle-based roles.
- Eligible full-time employees may participate in Uber’s bonus program and may receive equity awards and other compensation.
