Base Salary
$171k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop new Android features and platform capabilities using autonomous-vehicle data and operational insights.
- Build mobile features that drive autonomous-vehicle adoption on Uber’s platform.
- Lead technical projects end-to-end from inception and design through global deployment and productionization.
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, operations teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
- Balance speed, performance, quality, business objectives, and engineering best practices.
- Define standards for testing, monitoring, and alerting and oversee complex incident management.
- Identify architectural gaps and create organization-wide frameworks to improve developer velocity and reduce technical debt.
Requirements
- BS/BE degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of software engineering work experience.
- Extensive hands-on Android development experience with Java and/or Kotlin, including code reviews.
- Proven ability to lead technical projects through all lifecycle stages.
- Experience defining standards for testing, monitoring, and alerting systems and overseeing complex incident management.
- Strong communication, collaboration, ownership, self-motivation, and learning orientation.
- Preferred: MS or PhD in a relevant field.
- Preferred: experience developing mobile apps used by hundreds of millions of users globally.
- Preferred: strong focus on high-quality mobile UI experiences and feature development.
- Preferred: deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, system design, architecture, and software engineering fundamentals.
- Preferred: experience creating organization-wide frameworks and building relationships around a technical vision.
Benefits
- Base salary is USD $171,000-$190,000 per year for San Francisco and Seattle roles.
- Eligible for Uber’s bonus program and may receive equity awards and other compensation.
