Lead Embedded Security Engineer
GE VernovaResponsibilities
- Design, develop, test, debug, and optimize embedded software.
- Execute the Secure Development Life Cycle for assigned components and ensure compliance with IEC-62443-4-2.
- Perform code and third-party scans, manage SBOM/HBOM inventories, and remediate vulnerabilities.
- Implement Secure Boot, authentication mechanisms, system logging, and other device-hardening features.
- Integrate software with hardware and collaborate with cross-functional teams through code reviews and design discussions.
- Conduct software verification and validation for product quality and security certification requirements.
- Maintain technical design documentation and customer-facing Secure Deployment Guides.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Electronic & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of hands-on embedded software development experience with exposure to security standards.
- Advanced proficiency in Embedded C/C++, strong experience with RTOS platforms such as FreeRTOS and VxWorks, and strong Python skills.
- Knowledge of IEC-62443-4-2, Secure Development Life Cycle practices, secure boot, authentication protocols, device security hardening, vulnerability management, SBOM/HBOM generation, and third-party risk assessment.
- Understanding of hardware/software integration, memory management, and device drivers.
- Familiarity with IEC-61850 and software configuration management tools such as Git or SVN is preferred.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
