Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, review, and debug secure, high-quality production software.
  • Build and maintain Java, Spring Boot, and AWS-based payment applications and systems.
  • Lead adoption of approved AI-assisted engineering practices, including code review, refactoring, testing, and incident analysis, with validation for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Identify and automate recurring remediation opportunities to improve application and system stability.
  • Lead evaluations with vendors, startups, and internal teams regarding architectural designs, technical credentials, and system applicability.
  • Use Terraform and CloudFormation for cloud infrastructure provisioning.
  • Lead and mentor software engineers at varying levels.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
  • At least 8 years of strong experience coding with Java, Spring Boot, and AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages and all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS EC2, Lambda, KMS, ECS, EKS, S3, EMR, Athena, SQS, EventBridge, and PostgreSQL.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Experience leading approved AI-assisted software development tools and validating their outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, resiliency, and security expectations, including coaching engineers on safe adoption.
  • Leadership and mentoring experience, with advanced understanding of agile development, application resiliency, and security.
  • Preferred: experience with large financial payments technology applications, AI-assisted development of secure applications, and AWS certification.
