
Staff Software Engineer
GE VernovaResponsibilities
- Identify business needs with engineering teams and program managers and define problem statements, functional specifications, success metrics, and business impact.
- Translate user requirements into technical tasks, validation steps, deployment milestones, and traceable delivery plans.
- Upgrade and enhance design and engineering analysis applications for rotating components, improving usability, automation, reliability, performance, accuracy, and workflow integration.
- Manage project scope, schedules, risks, communications, leadership reviews, and team coordination.
- Lead application development, testing, validation, release, deployment, support, documentation, and user training.
- Coordinate requirements, interfaces, and deployment plans across engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, services, global engineering, ITO/OTR, and systems engineering teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or mechanical engineering is required; a master’s degree or higher is preferred.
- Significant experience developing, enhancing, and supporting physics-based design and engineering analysis tools for industrial or rotating-component applications.
- Significant programming skills in C++, C, Java, Python, and shell scripting for reliable, maintainable, high-performance engineering applications.
- Hands-on experience with aero engineering concepts, rotating-component design workflows, CAD modeling, engineering automation, and physics-based design or analysis tools.
- Working knowledge of Unix and Solaris environments, software build processes, scripting, debugging, version control, and deployment practices.
- Advanced understanding of data structures, algorithms, computational methods, numerical accuracy, performance optimization, and scalable software design.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to obtain or hold UK government Security Check (SC) clearance may be required.
