Responsibilities
- Own the German Lending API end to end, including product evolution, versioning, releases, deprecation, and partner commitments.
- Own the developer portal and partner integration tools, including documentation and self-service testing.
- Build features such as pre-qualification that improve partner adoption and customer conversion.
- Automate broker funnel and internal CRM workflows and build agents where useful.
- Set the team’s technical direction and shape the product and technical roadmap with the product manager.
- Align German requirements with UK engineers sharing the API.
- Mentor and coach engineers through code reviews and design sessions.
- Work with commercial colleagues and participate in the team’s weekly support rotation.
Requirements
- Production backend engineering experience with Python and Django, FastAPI, or Flask.
- Production experience with PostgreSQL or another relational database, including keeping systems fast and maintainable.
- Experience designing and evolving APIs used by other teams or companies, including decisions about structure, versioning, and change.
- Experience taking commercial problems from scoping through production and iterating based on usage.
- Experience helping other engineers grow through code reviews and design sessions.
- Experience building agentic workflows or using AI to scale engineering output, with judgment about when to use it.
- Clear, direct, concise written and verbal communication adapted to the audience.
- Experience helping external developers integrate with an API through documentation, test environments, or direct support is a bonus.
- Frontend experience, particularly with React or TypeScript, is a bonus.
- Experience setting up or maintaining production-service test and release pipelines is a bonus.
- Experience using data, metrics, or A/B tests to evaluate changes is a bonus.
