Responsibilities
- Build and operate deployment services for large-scale deployments across development, staging, production, and customer AWS accounts.
- Maintain and extend Claudius and metadev, Taktile’s internal AI developer tooling.
- Improve build, test, merge, and CI/CD performance by addressing slow, flaky, and costly workflows.
- Evolve GitHub Actions workflows, self-hosted runners, caching, parallelism, and build infrastructure.
- Accelerate local development and container-based deployment workflows for the AWS Lambda stack.
- Build templates, CLIs, and self-service tooling that create fast, standardized developer workflows.
- Design deterministic, scriptable tools for engineers and AI coding agents.
- Own developer productivity metrics including PR lead time, CI runtime, CI flakiness, and PRs per engineer-day.
- Partner with engineering teams, triage CI incidents, document tooling, and drive migrations and deprecations to completion.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional backend engineering experience, including end-to-end production systems ownership and technical leadership across teams.
- Production-grade experience in at least one backend programming language; Python is the primary language but other languages are accepted.
- Hands-on experience owning CI/CD at scale, including build and test performance, caching, parallelization, and flaky pipeline debugging.
- Solid AWS experience, preferably including Lambda, CloudFormation or SAM, and Terraform.
- Daily familiarity with AI coding and agent-orchestration tools such as Claude Code, OpenCode, subagents, and MCP.
- A product mindset for internal tooling, including user engagement, outcome measurement, adoption, and time-saved evaluation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills for driving cross-team changes.
- Preferred experience on developer productivity, developer experience, build/release engineering, or platform teams.
- Preferred experience as a product-facing backend engineer, with frontend build and test tooling in the TypeScript and React ecosystem, self-hosted CI runners, progressive delivery, monorepo tooling, build systems, dependency management, or AI agent infrastructure.
