Responsibilities
- Lead complex, large-scale technology initiatives from solution design through implementation, deployment, and production support.
- Architect, design, develop, test, debug, document, and review enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and Angular or React.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across backend, frontend, database, API, integration, and infrastructure layers.
- Establish engineering standards and best practices for architecture, coding, automated testing, security, observability, and production readiness.
- Evaluate architectural alternatives, technical risks, scalability, performance, resiliency, security, maintainability, and business trade-offs.
- Lead code reviews, architecture reviews, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and sustainable remediation of complex production issues.
- Drive application modernization, technical debt reduction, automation, performance optimization, resiliency improvements, and adoption of CI/CD and automated testing.
- Mentor engineers and collaborate with architects, product owners, technology leaders, business stakeholders, and external industry groups.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Java 11, 17, or 21 and Spring Boot.
- Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs and microservices.
- Experience with Angular or React, TypeScript or JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Experience with Kafka or other event-driven and messaging technologies.
- Experience with JUnit, Mockito, and automated unit and integration testing.
- Working knowledge of Git, Maven or Gradle, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes or OpenShift.
- Experience developing and deploying applications in cloud or enterprise private-cloud environments.
- Understanding of distributed systems, integration patterns, scalability, performance, resiliency, application security, monitoring, logging, tracing, observability, and production troubleshooting.
- Experience leading complex technology initiatives, architecture and code reviews, technical decisions, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.
