Base Salary
$160k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-availability Python backend services and APIs.
- Implement data contracts, integration layers, and interfaces across distributed services, external systems, and event-driven data streams.
- Develop automated unit, integration, and regression test suites and resolve complex defects.
- Profile and optimize resource usage, query execution, network performance, throughput, latency, and system scalability.
- Containerize services with Docker and deploy and debug Kubernetes workloads using Helm.
- Maintain CI/CD pipelines with automated code analysis, testing, and vulnerability scanning.
- Collaborate with agile teams, product owners, and technical stakeholders to deliver production-ready increments.
Requirements
- Active or current Top-Secret clearance.
- Deep production-level Python experience, including backend frameworks, data structures, and asynchronous programming.
- Strong Bash scripting experience for automation and system-level workflows.
- Hands-on PostgreSQL experience with schema design, indexing, and complex query optimization.
- Experience using Redis for state management, caching, or message queuing.
- Experience building Docker images and configuring, deploying, and debugging Kubernetes workloads with Helm.
- Working familiarity with Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines with quality gates, automated test coverage, and vulnerability scanning.
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM or a related field.
- 15+ years of software engineering experience delivering production backend systems.
- Ability to work independently, debug unfamiliar codebases, and write clean, self-documenting code.
- Preferred: Top-Secret clearance with SCI access and polygraph.
- Preferred: Privileged User eligibility, Security+ certification, or customer-accepted equivalent.
- Preferred: Experience with distributed messaging, event-driven patterns, event streaming, or message brokers.
- Preferred: Familiarity with microservices architectures and REST or gRPC API standards.
- Preferred: Exposure to monitoring, observability, and distributed tracing tools in Kubernetes environments.
- Preferred: Knowledge of space-to-ground architectures, Command and Control systems, and Mission Management systems.
