Responsibilities
- Partner with business-unit leaders, domain experts, end users, and technologists to identify AI opportunities, define measurable outcomes, and establish delivery plans.
- Own AI initiatives through discovery, technical design, prototyping, production deployment, adoption, measurement, value realization, and continuous improvement.
- Design complex, scalable systems spanning multiple technologies and languages, including API design, data modeling, observability, evaluation, and testability.
- Evaluate models, platforms, tools, and architectural patterns for retrieval, orchestration, agentic workflows, human-in-the-loop controls, and enterprise integrations.
- Define technology vision and establish engineering standards for architecture, data contracts, testing, operational excellence, security, privacy, cost management, and responsible AI.
- Turn deployment lessons into reusable implementations, frameworks, prompts, evaluation approaches, standards, and enablement materials.
- Measure and communicate impact across adoption, quality, productivity, capacity, cycle time, cost, ROI, risk, and sustained business outcomes.
- Influence technical direction across teams and stakeholder groups while coaching engineers, senior individual contributors, and emerging technical leaders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, or a master’s degree with 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated ownership of complex systems, workflows, or platforms supporting a business unit or function and integrating with broader enterprise systems.
- Deep expertise across the software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, operations, system design, API design, data modeling, and observability.
- Experience making technology and architecture decisions across teams and multiple technologies or languages and guiding others toward solutions for complex systems.
- Hands-on experience building, deploying, or operating AI-enabled systems, tools, agents, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products or business processes.
- Experience working directly with partner business units to understand ambiguous needs, deliver usable solutions quickly, and drive adoption beyond prototypes or pilots.
- Preferred experience defining organization-level AI, software engineering, or architecture practices and standards for scalability, resilience, observability, evaluation, and responsible AI.
- Preferred experience designing and productionizing LLM, generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic, conversational, or AI-assisted workflow solutions.
- Preferred experience establishing AI evaluation and governance practices, including quality measurement, hallucination mitigation, confidence scoring, human oversight, security, privacy, auditability, and monitoring.
- Preferred experience partnering with executives, shaping domain strategy, mentoring engineers across levels, coaching senior individual contributors, and identifying rising talent.
