Responsibilities
- Partner with business-unit leaders, domain experts, end users, and technologists to identify AI opportunities, define outcomes, and establish delivery plans.
- Own AI initiatives from discovery and technical design through prototyping, production deployment, adoption, measurement, and continuous improvement.
- Design complex systems using system design, API design, data modeling, observability, evaluation, and testability practices.
- Evaluate models, platforms, tools, and architectural patterns for retrieval, orchestration, agentic workflows, human-in-the-loop controls, and enterprise integrations.
- Establish software and AI engineering standards covering architecture, data contracts, testing, observability, security, privacy, cost management, and responsible AI.
- Create reusable implementations, frameworks, prompts, evaluation approaches, engineering standards, and enablement materials.
- Influence technical direction across teams and stakeholder groups and communicate measurable business impact.
- Develop engineers and senior individual contributors and coach emerging technical leaders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, or a master’s degree with 10+ years of experience, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated ownership of complex systems, workflows, or platforms supporting a business unit or function and integrating with broader systems.
- Deep expertise across the software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, operations, system design, API design, data modeling, and observability.
- Experience making architecture and technology choices across teams and multiple technologies or languages.
- Hands-on experience building, deploying, or operating AI-enabled systems, tools, agents, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to products or business processes.
- Experience working directly with partner business units to understand ambiguous needs, deliver technical solutions quickly, and drive adoption.
- Preferred experience defining organization-level AI or software engineering standards and AI architecture vision.
- Preferred experience productionizing LLM, generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic, conversational, or AI-assisted workflow solutions.
- Preferred experience establishing AI evaluation and governance practices, including hallucination mitigation, confidence scoring, human oversight, security, privacy, auditability, and monitoring.
- Preferred experience partnering with executives, mentoring engineers across levels, coaching senior individual contributors, and evaluating AI/ML trends pragmatically.

- The listed total cash ranges vary by location: Seattle $231,000.00–$323,500.00 with potential up to $369,500.00, and San Jose $249,000.00–$348,500.00 with potential up to $398,500.00.
