Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the CLI workspace runtime, including migration away from the legacy IDE and support for asynchronous background agent runs.
- Build agent-facing experiences such as streaming responses, transparent tool calls, diff review, charting, and rich conversational analytics outputs.
- Develop MCP integrations that make dbt projects available through AI clients including Claude and Codex.
- Lead well-scoped projects end to end, partnering with design and product and measuring outcomes after shipping.
- Participate in on-call and customer support for owned surfaces.
- Mentor engineers earlier in their careers.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of production software development experience, including senior-level ownership of multi-month projects involving several people.
- Deep Python experience with exposure to TypeScript and hands-on React experience.
- Experience building and maintaining developer-dependent tools such as an IDE, editor extension, CLI, SDK, LSP server, or data tool.
- Operational experience with APIs, Kubernetes, Postgres, observability, and production support.
- Strong written communication and ability to work asynchronously on a fully remote, distributed team.
- Preferred experience shipping LLM- or agent-powered production features and evaluating model quality, latency, cost, and limitations.
- Preferred experience with Language Server Protocol, Monaco, CodeMirror, or other code-editor internals.
- Preferred hands-on dbt, SQL, or data warehouse experience with Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- Migration and legacy-product decommissioning experience is a plus.
- Go, Rust, or systems-level performance experience is a plus.
