Base Salary
$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed systems for core cloud infrastructure.
- Define scalability, reliability, correctness, availability, performance, and operational-readiness requirements for owned components.
- Design fault-tolerant systems with redundancy, replication, automatic failover, in-service upgrades, load shedding, throttling, and rate limiting.
- Optimize code and systems for high-throughput, hyperscale data retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Define KPIs and build telemetry, dashboards, alerts, performance tests, fault-injection scenarios, and brownout validation.
- Diagnose and resolve complex production and performance issues, participate in operational support rotations, and lead incident and root-cause investigations.
- Implement security controls, remediation plans, encryption, access controls, and compliance documentation for multi-tenant cloud environments.
- Develop infrastructure-as-code automation for patching, updates, rollbacks, and change management.
- Provide technical leadership through architecture and code reviews, mentoring, cross-team collaboration, and candidate interviews.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6–10+ years of software engineering experience building highly available, scalable distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
- Strong programming skills in Java, Go, Rust, C, C++, or a similar systems or backend language.
- Deep experience in distributed systems, cloud control planes, management planes, scheduling, virtualization, storage, networking, security, reliability, or platform automation.
- Ability to independently lead the design and delivery of complex, resilient, observable, and operable services.
- Strong understanding of failure handling, concurrency, asynchronous workflows, safe retries, and lifecycle management in distributed systems.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills for complex production and performance issues.
- Experience collaborating across teams and translating broad platform goals into executable designs and plans.
- Ability to mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on technical leadership.

- US hiring range is $114,600–$234,600 per annum, with possible bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
