Base Salary
$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed-system components for horizontal and vertical scaling.
- Optimize code and systems for hyper-scale data processing, high throughput, large-scale retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Design fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, in-service updates, load-shedding, throttling, and rate-limiting.
- Define KPIs and telemetry and build dashboards, monitoring, alerting, and complex validation scenarios such as fault injection and brownouts.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, support incident response and root-cause investigations, participate in operational support rotations, and mentor team members.
- Implement security controls, encryption, access controls, remediation plans, cloud compliance measures, and current documentation.
- Develop infrastructure-as-code automation and change-management plans for patching, updating, and rolling back applications.
- Coordinate moderately complex tasks and projects, provide technical oversight, collaborate with stakeholders, contribute to process improvement, and participate in candidate interviews.
Requirements
- Experience designing and implementing scalable, elastic, fault-tolerant distributed systems is required by the role responsibilities.
- Experience with high-throughput systems, large-scale data processing, replication, synchronization, failover, network partitions, and service-level objectives is required by the role responsibilities.
- Ability to design performance, load, fault-injection, brownout, correctness, and availability testing scenarios.
- Experience with telemetry, dashboards, alerting, operational troubleshooting, incident response, and root-cause investigations.
- Experience implementing security controls, encryption, access controls, remediation, cloud compliance, and infrastructure-as-code automation.
- Ability to coordinate moderately complex initiatives, provide technical oversight, mentor others, collaborate across teams, and contribute to hiring decisions.
