Responsibilities
- Design and ship production AI solutions on SAP BTP using AI Core, Generative AI Hub, and AI Foundation.
- Build custom agents and skills in Joule Studio and extend standard Joule capabilities.
- Implement retrieval-augmented generation using HANA Cloud vector storage, SAP Datasphere, SAP Business Data Cloud, and Knowledge Graph grounding.
- Develop CAP services, OData APIs, and SAP Integration Suite flows around AI models.
- Own model selection, prompt design, evaluation, and cost and latency tuning.
- Establish evaluation harnesses, observability, and guardrails for agent behavior.
- Work within clean-core and ABAP Cloud constraints and determine appropriate extension patterns.
- Partner with functional consultants and customer stakeholders to define buildable use cases.
- Mentor engineers and improve code quality, testing, and delivery practices.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of production software development experience, including at least 2 years shipping AI, ML, or LLM-based systems used by real users.
- Hands-on experience with SAP BTP, AI Core, Generative AI Hub, CAP, and HANA Cloud, plus understanding of S/4HANA data and processes.
- Strong Python skills and sufficient JavaScript or TypeScript experience for CAP and Node-based services.
- Practical experience with RAG and agent engineering, including chunking, retrieval strategy, tool and function calling, and orchestration.
- Understanding of enterprise authorizations, principal propagation, data residency, auditability, and PII handling.
- Ability to work directly with customers or business stakeholders and explain technical decisions clearly.
- Fluent English; German is a plus.
- Preferred experience with ABAP, ABAP Cloud, RAP, CAP, clean-core extensions, SAP Business Data Cloud, Datasphere, Analytics Cloud, agent governance tooling, SAP AI Agent Hub, LeanIX, Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, relevant industry domains, SAP certifications, conference talks, technical writing, or open-source contributions.
