Responsibilities

  • Partner with external parties and internal cross-functional teams to define product objectives and technical designs.
  • Curate specialized datasets, design evaluations across industry verticals, and fine-tune models for real-world performance.
  • Lead engineering and development of novel solutions from 0 to 1 using internal platforms and tools.
  • Build sophisticated agents and workflows powered by Google DeepMind foundation models.
  • Share real-world evaluations, edge cases, and deployment signals with core research teams.
  • Act as a technical lead for applied AI, establishing generative AI deployment best practices and demonstrating frontier-model capabilities end to end.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of software development experience with one or more programming languages and data structures or algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience in ML design and optimizing ML infrastructure, including model deployment, evaluation, data processing, debugging, and fine-tuning.
  • Experience in media generation or reinforcement learning.
  • 5 years of experience testing and launching software products and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Preferred experience with generative AI models and applications, front-end development, cloud computing platforms, machine learning frameworks, open-source contributions, and rapidly shipping products in customer-facing startup-like environments.
