Responsibilities
- Train, fine-tune, orchestrate, evaluate, and deploy vision-centric and vision-language models across industrial domains.
- Deploy end-to-end computer vision systems across cloud, edge, and hybrid environments.
- Define benchmarks and improve AI system accuracy, reliability, latency, throughput, and robustness through quantitative and qualitative evaluation.
- Design and develop industrial-grade imaging systems for consistent, high-quality data collection.
- Integrate Matroid with manufacturing execution systems, PLCs, SCADA systems, quality management systems, safety alert systems, video management systems, and other customer workflows.
- Advise customers on technical scoping, model adaptation, deployment architecture, evaluation, integration, and enablement.
- Lead product training sessions, technical workshops, and deployment playbooks.
- Relay customer feedback to Matroid teams to support customer-centric product development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or another technical field.
- Experience with modern visual recognition models, including object detection, segmentation, tracking, action recognition, anomaly detection, and/or vision-language models.
- Strong Python coding skills for building reliable systems that interact with models, APIs, databases, customer infrastructure, and production workflows.
- Experience with machine learning and computer vision frameworks and tools such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, Hugging Face, NumPy, or OpenCV.
- Ability to rigorously evaluate AI systems, design benchmarks, analyze failure modes, and improve model performance through data, prompts, architecture, or workflow design.
- Strong oral, written, presentation, collaboration, interpersonal, and technical-to-commercial communication skills.
- Graduate degree in computer vision, artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, robotics, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous forward-deployed engineering, field engineering, professional services, consulting, solutions engineering, or other customer-facing technical experience is preferred.
- Experience deploying AI systems in industrial, manufacturing, aerospace, logistics, security, or other operational environments is preferred.
- Experience with spatial-temporal reasoning, open-world visual recognition, 3D visual understanding or reconstruction, agentic workflows, or high-growth technology startups is preferred.
