Base Salary

$110k - $230k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and operate automation, self-service tools, dashboards, data pipelines, APIs, and shared services for incident management, on-call, paging, and troubleshooting.
  • Lead technical response and escalation during high-severity incidents, including troubleshooting, impact analysis, service restoration, and risk-based decision-making.
  • Lead or materially contribute to post-incident reviews, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, runbooks, readiness criteria, and systemic reliability improvements.
  • Lead architecture and design reviews across multiple teams, services, dependencies, and operational domains.
  • Partner with SRE, platform, product, infrastructure, security, and business stakeholders to advance enterprise reliability goals.
  • Mentor engineers through technical leadership, code and design reviews, documentation, and operational coaching.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation for incident response and production support of mission-critical platforms.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in platform engineering, reliability engineering, backend engineering, distributed systems, or operational tooling.
  • 6+ years of experience with architecture, design, system reliability, scalability, and technical leadership for production systems.
  • 4+ years of experience with open-source frameworks, modern engineering practices, or platform technologies.
  • 3+ years of experience with Azure, AWS, GCP, another cloud service provider, or equivalent complex hybrid-environment experience.
  • Hands-on proficiency in multiple languages, including Go, Java, Python, and C#, for production-grade applications on Kubernetes and serverless technologies such as Knative.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL technologies, cloud-native services, data pipelines, analytics, dashboards, observability, incident-management platforms, and high-severity production incidents.
  • Experience with Spark, Trino, Grafana, Superset, Power BI, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Splunk, Azure Monitor, and PagerDuty.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot.
  • Strong incident forensics, root-cause analysis, observability, reliability engineering, system design, distributed-systems, communication, and coaching skills.
  • Demonstrated ownership of mission-critical systems operating in 24x7 production environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.
  • Ability to influence engineering outcomes across teams and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders under pressure.
