Responsibilities

  • Manage the lifecycle of on-premises and cloud Kubernetes clusters, including upgrades, security patching, scaling, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
  • Troubleshoot control plane, node, resource, and cluster-level issues and manage etcd health and backups.
  • Implement and maintain Cilium CNI, Kubernetes network policies, multi-tenant isolation, pod networking, DNS, service discovery, and connectivity.
  • Configure BGP peering and collaborate on firewall rules, VLANs, IPv6 networking, and network architecture.
  • Monitor cluster performance and optimize resource utilization across multi-tenant workloads.
  • Contribute to an internal developer platform focused on security and development efficiency.
  • Support development teams with Kubernetes workload deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, and best-practice guidance.
  • Maintain platform documentation, runbooks, self-service guides, and tooling.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, 6 years with a Master's degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience administering Kubernetes on on-premises infrastructure such as K3s, RKE2, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with cloud-managed Kubernetes, including GKE and/or EKS.
  • Strong understanding of Linux networking fundamentals, including iptables/nftables, routing, DNS, and TCP/IP.
  • Experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux.
  • Proficiency in Bash, Python, or Go for scripting and automation.
  • Production Cilium CNI or equivalent networking experience.
  • Understanding of Kubernetes security practices, including Pod Security Standards, RBAC, and secrets management.
  • Experience with GCP and/or AWS cloud platforms.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Preferred: Go programming for operator maintenance and platform tooling, CKA or CKS certification, BGP and network engineering experience, IPv6 networking, Terraform or Ansible, Backstage, Istio or Linkerd, and GitHub or GitLab workflows.
