Base Salary
$405k - $485k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the technical strategy and roadmap for the assigned area and ensure its hardest problems are solved.
- Design, build, and operate tools that help platform teams ship code faster.
- Define and enforce standards for trusting code changes, including changes written by Claude, before and after merge.
- Build agents that diagnose failures, fix broken tests, and run migrations.
- Embed with partner teams to identify friction, validate solutions, and turn successful fixes into adoptable internal products.
- Measure developer experience and adoption and use the data to prioritize future work.
- Improve shared systems while shifting between new-tool development and existing-system enhancements.
Requirements
- Experience building and operating large-scale backend services or distributed systems in production.
- Proficiency in Go, Python, Rust, or TypeScript.
- Deep experience with developer tooling, CI/CD, test infrastructure, or deployment systems.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and container orchestration.
- Experience leading large, complex technical projects across teams from ambiguous problem definition through adoption.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and experience supporting internal partner teams.
- Interest in Anthropic’s mission of building safe, beneficial AI.
- Preferred: startup or small-team experience, including taking products from zero to one and working directly with users.
- Preferred: substantial experience with agents performing engineering or other technical work.
- Preferred: experience building widely adopted CLI tools, developer-facing services, GitHub automation, or open-source developer tools.
- Preferred: depth in progressive delivery, observability, VM orchestration, sandboxed execution, or workflow orchestration.
- Preferred: experience working in a large monorepo, enough full-stack ability to create usable interfaces, and a perspective on how software engineering changes as agents write more code.
Benefits
- Annual base salary range of $405,000–$485,000 USD.
- Hybrid policy requiring staff to be in an office at least 25% of the time, with preference for candidates in New York, Seattle, San Francisco, or the Bay Area.
