Responsibilities
- Set up the product project on an in-house Yocto-based embedded Linux platform, including product layers, image recipes, machine files, and device trees.
- Own the application architecture and develop C++ system software as separate Linux services using systemd and IPC.
- Integrate A/B software updates, configuration, storage, diagnostics, identity/security services, verified boot, and related platform functionality.
- Build a self-hosted HTML, CSS, and TypeScript web UI with a modern framework and REST APIs for kiosk and networked-PC use.
- Implement concurrent communication with instruments and customer devices over RS-232 and GPIB through USB adapters.
- Implement user accounts, role-based permissions, audit logging, HTTPS, mutual TLS, signed updates, encrypted data, service sandboxing, and security testing/fuzzing.
- Port functionality from legacy VB6 desktop applications and implement the remote programming interface for client calibration software.
Requirements
- 7+ years of embedded Linux software experience after a BS/MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Strong C++ application development experience for embedded Linux, including services, IPC, and systemd.
- Experience developing Yocto product layers, recipes, and BitBake builds on an existing in-house Yocto platform.
- Experience developing web interfaces with HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and a framework such as React.
- Experience designing and implementing HTTP/REST APIs.
- Experience with authentication, role-based permissions, audit logging, signed updates, TLS/mutual TLS using OpenSSL, privilege separation, and service sandboxing.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred qualifications include legacy desktop application migration, SWUpdate, dm-verity, secure boot on NXP i.MX processors, RS-232, GPIB, SCPI, CERT C++ secure coding, fuzzing, IEC 62443-4-1, test and measurement or calibration software, and AI-assisted development tools.
