Responsibilities
- Port legacy instrument firmware across processor architectures and migrate it to Zephyr RTOS where possible.
- Develop drivers for sensors, A2D converters, solid-state relays, serial interfaces, and precision load cells.
- Implement measurement, valve-control, pressure-control, protective, abort, power-loss, and host-communication-loss behaviors.
- Implement the RS-232 host protocol, including device identity and firmware updates through the embedded Linux system computer.
- Develop signed and verified firmware for a bridge-board microcontroller with system-computer-only updates.
- Build CLI and diagnostic tools for hardware bring-up and develop unit-test and GitHub Actions pipelines.
- Collaborate with the client's ESW Product Owner, electrical engineers, and embedded Linux engineers on a new product introduction.
Requirements
- 7+ years of embedded firmware experience after a BS/MS in Computer, Electrical, or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Expertise in embedded C on microcontroller platforms.
- Experience with Zephyr RTOS, including device drivers, devicetree, threads, and IPC.
- Experience porting firmware across processor architectures, including undocumented legacy code.
- Experience developing drivers for sensors and serial interfaces including RS-232, USB, SPI, and I2C.
- Hands-on prototype-hardware bring-up and debugging using JTAG, SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Experience with Git and code-review workflows.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred experience includes precision measurement, metrology, calibration instruments, secure firmware, signed images, secure boot, anti-rollback, CERT C, static analysis, sanitizers, fuzzing, IEC 62443-4-1, closed-loop control, GitHub Actions, and AI-assisted development tools.
