Base Salary
$160k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and develop highly available, scalable backend services in AWS.
- Build and maintain event-driven, asynchronous systems using Node.js.
- Create and maintain REST and GraphQL APIs for customer-facing and internal tools.
- Use AI coding agents to plan, implement, and test features while owning the correctness of changes.
- Write specifications, tests, and repository context to support reliable agent-driven development.
- Partner with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams to ship business-impacting features.
- Contribute to technical design discussions and promote engineering best practices.
- Share AI development patterns, tooling, and lessons learned with the team.
- Debug production issues and improve system reliability.
- Improve code quality through testing, observability, documentation, and rigorous code review.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of backend engineering experience.
- Strong skills in Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Experience building systems on AWS, including services such as SQS, Lambda, EC2, and RDS.
- Understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
- Experience designing and maintaining REST or GraphQL APIs.
- Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Commitment to writing unit and integration tests.
- Knowledge of system design, caching, and security best practices, including OWASP Top 10.
- Hands-on experience shipping production code with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot agent mode, including examples of correcting or overriding their output.
- Strong code review skills applied to AI-generated changes.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (green card holder).
- AWS certification, experience with high-scale or business-critical systems, pricing or quoting logic, and agent workflows, custom tools, or MCP integrations are preferred.
