Responsibilities

  • Design and build event-driven, data-intensive backend services with Node.js, TypeScript, Amazon Aurora, ECS, and SQS.
  • Design microservices architectures with clear service boundaries, data ownership, synchronous REST communication, and asynchronous messaging.
  • Develop AI pipelines and scalable AI-enabled systems for structured and unstructured data and mission-critical healthcare platforms.
  • Design cloud-native architectures and distributed systems supporting AI-driven applications.
  • Drive test-driven development and maintain unit, integration, and contract test coverage.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, research, and technical leadership teams to deliver deployable solutions.
  • Support additional project tasks and team objectives as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, artificial intelligence, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience designing and deploying AI-enabled systems in production.
  • Hands-on experience with React, Node.js, TypeScript, production-grade services, REST APIs, and integrations.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex, or Claude Code.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS data and messaging services and event-driven, data-intensive services.
  • Experience designing microservices and distributed systems supporting AI workloads.
  • Demonstrated test-driven development and automated testing experience across unit, integration, and contract tests.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and DevOps practices for scalable AI systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving experience with complex distributed systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to guide technical discussions and influence engineering decisions.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience in regulated healthcare or federal systems, familiarity with FHIR or HL7, AI orchestration or agent-based architecture experience, PostgreSQL or Amazon Aurora performance tuning, Amazon SQS and S3 workflows, and Docker or Kubernetes.
