Responsibilities
- Coordinate with a global team to maintain uptime guarantees for MongoDB Atlas customers.
- Design, build, and deploy internal tools and processes that improve cloud operations.
- Automate monitoring, troubleshooting, and routine internal processes.
- Monitor Atlas systems, detect emerging customer-facing incidents, and assist with proactive resolution.
- Diagnose live incidents, distinguish platform issues from usage issues, and escalate or resolve them appropriately.
- Analyze system logs and performance data and perform server administration and troubleshooting.
- Identify improvements for the management applications supporting Atlas infrastructure.
- Notify executive leadership and escalation personnel about major outages.
- Participate in a weekly on-call rotation handling short-term customer incidents.
Requirements
- Experience as an on-call DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Cloud Operations Engineer.
- Expertise with Linux system administration and networking technologies.
- Knowledge of database operations and concepts.
- Knowledge of web and internet technologies.
- Familiarity with Amazon Web Services and other cloud infrastructure platforms, including GCP and Azure.
- Experience with monitoring, system performance data collection and analysis, and reporting.
- Ability to write programs or scripts for short-term systems problems and long-term Atlas objectives.
- A CS or CE degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience with at least two of Java, Go, Python, and JavaScript.
