Responsibilities
- Design and implement Box Automate features with an emphasis on backend architecture, distributed systems, and production-quality React/TypeScript frontend work.
- Develop and optimize scalable, reliable backend services supporting millions of workflow executions daily.
- Build responsive interfaces for creating, configuring, and monitoring automated workflows.
- Collaborate with product, design, infrastructure, and engineering teams to define requirements and deliver technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to engineering practices and architecture decisions.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to production incidents outside business hours when scheduled.
- Attend weekly stand-ups, team meetings, and manager one-on-ones.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience with demonstrated full-stack development expertise.
- Strong proficiency in Java and TypeScript/JavaScript with a modern framework such as React.
- Professional ability to independently build and ship frontend features as well as backend systems.
- Understanding of object-oriented design principles, REST APIs, and modern web development patterns.
- Experience with scalable backend systems, database design, caching strategies, and asynchronous processing.
- Experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience influencing technical direction through RFCs, design documents, or cross-team collaboration.
- Ability to assess, communicate, and complete project milestones in a time-sensitive environment.
- Fluent written and verbal English proficiency.
- Preferred: experience with workflow automation, business process management, integration platforms, enterprise integrations, or API design.
- Preferred: familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and DevOps practices.
- Preferred: experience leading cross-functional projects, mentoring junior engineers, contributing to open-source projects, or demonstrating software craftsmanship.
