Responsibilities
- Operate and implement new features in the team’s frameworks and managed services.
- Engage with data scientists to improve their experience and productivity with the frameworks and services.
- Identify and implement computational improvements.
- Fix bugs and submit patches to open-source projects such as Spark, Iceberg, Hadoop, and Airflow.
- Act as an expert on Spark and Scala.
- Mentor engineers through pairing, design discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions while improving quality, reliability, and engineering practices.
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of software engineering experience.
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Math, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience and proficiency in Scala or other JVM-based languages.
- Experience with Spark or other large-scale data-processing frameworks.
- Kubernetes experience is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of Amazon Web Services, including EC2, S3, and Athena.
- Interest in backend technologies, architecture, math, statistics, or adtech is valued.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a changing environment.
