Base Salary
$279k - $341k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own architecture spanning business units, including domain boundaries, cross-cutting concerns, product logic, policy, and funds flow.
- Lead cross-business-unit design and architecture reviews and document decisions in durable architecture decision records.
- Drive decomposition and unification roadmaps for shared systems and sequence incremental adoption across teams.
- Build deprecation, experiment cleanup, and clear ownership into system designs to prevent accumulated complexity.
- Partner with Platform, Money Platform, and business-unit engineering leads to establish practical, adopted standards.
- Use AI tools for design exploration, code analysis, and review, and build agents, skills, and documentation for engineers and AI coding agents.
- Define guardrails and review practices for consistent, responsible AI-generated code.
- Mentor Staff and Senior engineers through design reviews, code, and architecture guidance.
- Contribute to hiring and onboarding and represent engineering in technical discussions with product, risk, and leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- 10+ years of backend or full-stack software development experience designing and evolving large distributed systems.
- Experience defining domain boundaries and service contracts across multiple teams, with practical knowledge of domain-driven design, event-driven systems, and clean architecture.
- Hands-on daily use of AI coding and design tools, with concrete examples of impact.
- Experience leading cross-team technical initiatives, influencing without direct authority, and resolving disagreements between teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex trade-offs through clear decisions and documentation.
- Experience in fintech, payments, or other regulated, high-reliability environments is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, results-driven environment.
