Base Salary
$159k - $324k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and automate large-scale, high-performance streaming data processing systems.
- Build scalable data infrastructure and pipelines using software engineering best practices.
- Develop data models optimized for storage and retrieval to meet product and business requirements.
- Own projects from inception through delivery while maintaining development quality and operational health.
- Establish short- and long-term architectural roadmaps for evolving business needs.
- Improve data platform efficiency, flexibility, scalability, performance, availability, and customer trust.
- Contribute to shared data engineering tools and standards across Growth Engineering and Coupang.
- Decompose complex problems into straightforward, maintainable solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and share expertise across teams to improve productivity and technical excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or a closely related field.
- At least 8 years of backend software development experience.
- Proficiency in Java and the Spring Framework.
- Experience working in cloud environments, particularly AWS.
- Experience building and maintaining highly available, distributed systems.
- Preferred: 10 or more years of professional software development experience.
- Preferred: 5 or more years building data-related products with Spark, Flink, Spring, and Java.
- Preferred: expertise with Spring, AWS, APIs, NoSQL, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Iceberg, and ClickHouse.
- Preferred: experience designing and maintaining distributed systems at scale and working with internet-scale datasets.
- Preferred: demonstrated leadership in delivering complex software systems and influencing engineering practices across teams.
- Preferred: strong coding, data structures, algorithms, problem-solving, refactoring, performance optimization, complexity analysis, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Preferred: hands-on experience spanning front-end interfaces and back-end systems, plus the ability to work in evolving, ambiguous environments.

- Base pay ranges from $159,000/year to $324,000/year depending on geographic market, knowledge, skills, and experience.
