Responsibilities
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 production support for mainframe applications.
- Troubleshoot batch failures, online transaction errors, and JCL abends while participating in on-call rotations.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring outages.
- Design and implement COBOL bug fixes and minor enhancements.
- Modify and optimize DB2 stored procedures, triggers, and SQL queries.
- Maintain CICS online screens, transaction logic, and transaction environments.
- Monitor batch job flows, online availability, task performance, and DB2 performance.
- Perform DB2 data corrections and cleansing and work with DBAs on locking and contention issues.
- Conduct impact analysis for code changes to protect downstream systems.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of mainframe application support experience.
- Expert-level Enterprise COBOL programming skills.
- Advanced DB2 experience, including SQL, bind/plan processing, complex joins, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on CICS experience with transaction monitoring, screen handling, and CICS commands.
- Proficiency with JCL and IBM utilities such as SORT, ICETOOL, and IDCAMS.
- Experience with mainframe debuggers such as IBM Debug Tool or XPEDITER.
- Experience with file management tools such as File-AID or File Manager.
- Experience with Endevor, Changeman, or a similar software configuration management tool.
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Banking, insurance, or retail industry experience is preferred.
- Understanding of mainframe integration with cloud or distributed environments, including MQ Series or APIs, is preferred.
- Strong analytical, incident-response, communication, and technical documentation skills.
