Base Salary
$250k - $270k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and own full-stack marketplace surfaces, high-performance tools, REST API infrastructure, and developer onboarding systems.
- Build agent-native user experiences, including Model Context Protocol servers, sandboxed test environments, and CLI/SDK generation workflows.
- Develop reliable infrastructure for identity verification, usage attribution, metering, billing, and multi-party settlement.
- Integrate marketplace features with Kong’s gateway runtime, security plugins, and global engineering teams.
- Lead architectural reviews, prevent scaling bottlenecks, and maintain a zero-technical-debt engineering culture.
- Mentor engineers and translate ambiguous product initiatives into modular, shippable technical milestones.
- Create engineering documentation and product specifications for systems under ownership.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience engineering enterprise-grade production software and designing, building, and supporting complex distributed systems.
- Master-level expertise with a modern backend stack such as Golang or similar systems languages.
- Deep architectural knowledge of API infrastructure, Kubernetes, and cloud-native patterns.
- Hands-on experience developing autonomous agent applications, tool-calling systems, prompt loops, or systems designed for machine consumption.
- Experience with multi-tenant architectures, usage-based metering pipelines, billing integration patterns, or secure data exchange layers.
- Strong written communication and technical articulation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in remote, globally distributed engineering environments; West Coast/Bay Area alignment is preferred.
