Responsibilities

Design and operate highly scalable, secure, fault-tolerant systems supporting millions of daily transactions and high availability.
Build full-stack features using React, FastAPI/Python, PostgreSQL, and PostGIS.
Design documented REST and asynchronous APIs with authentication, authorization, validation, pagination, and error handling.
Develop reusable React components and frontend architecture including state management, routing, and code-splitting.
Design PostgreSQL schemas, indexes, and query patterns for read- and write-heavy geospatial workloads.
Deploy and operate services on AWS using managed services, containers, and infrastructure-as-code.
Optimize frontend rendering, API latency, database queries, caching, indexing, partitioning, and parallelization.
Implement automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, and rollback strategies.
Participate in roadmap planning, sprint planning, retrospectives, design reviews, and technical decision-making.
Mentor and coach engineers, conduct code reviews, and help improve engineering standards and career growth.
Collaborate with product managers, data engineers, geospatial analysts, designers, and other stakeholders.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
6–9 years of software development experience deploying and operating production systems.
Proven experience designing highly scalable distributed systems with high availability and low latency.
Strong full-stack skills across React, FastAPI/Python, and PostgreSQL.
Hands-on experience building and operating applications on AWS, including compute, storage, networking, managed databases, and containers.
Understanding of system design, API design, relational and NoSQL databases, caching, and asynchronous or event-driven patterns.
Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, testing, CI/CD, and observability.
Knowledge of Scrum or Agile frameworks such as Kanban and Crystal.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred experience with GIS and geospatial development, including PostGIS, spatial queries, GeoJSON, Shapefile, KML, GeoParquet, STAC, GDAL, Rasterio, GeoPandas, Shapely, Fiona, and Xarray.
Preferred familiarity with Mapbox, MapLibre, Leaflet, Dask, and Ray.
Preferred exposure to Apache Airflow, Apache Spark with Sedona, Apache Iceberg, and productionizing data science or machine-learning workflows.
Preferred experience with containers, Kubernetes, Terraform, and cloud-native infrastructure-as-code practices.
Preferred experience building AI/LLM-powered applications using agentic systems, RAG, tool or function calling, prompt engineering, LangGraph, and Temporal.
