Backend Engineer - Large Model Knowledge System/Content understanding/RAG (ByteDance Singapore)
ByteDanceResponsibilities
- Build and iterate multimodal content understanding pipelines while resolving service availability, throughput, and storage bottlenecks.
- Optimize vector computing components and model inference performance, including large-scale vector retrieval and video representation models.
- Design and optimize large-model RAG and knowledge base architectures for public cloud products.
- Maintain and extend backend architecture for in-house vector databases supporting multimodal unstructured data processing and storage.
- Drive cloud-native capabilities including monitoring, billing, and elastic scheduling for vector database and knowledge base services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- At least 3 years of professional software development experience in backend, AI infrastructure, or cloud services.
- Strong programming skills in at least one of Python, C++, Golang, or Java.
- Basic understanding of large-model applications and RAG systems.
- Preferred experience in recommendation, search, advertising, recall, or ranking systems.
- Preferred familiarity with PyTorch or TensorFlow and experience with high-performance computing or CUDA.
- Knowledge of high-concurrency and high-throughput system design, cloud, or databases is preferred.
- Open-source contribution experience is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and proactive execution skills.
