Base Salary
$192k - $455k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and build high-throughput backend services for real-time operational data.
- Lead technical design reviews and make pragmatic architecture and implementation decisions.
- Design resilient, observable, performance-tuned event-driven and distributed systems.
- Define stable APIs and collaborate with frontend teams on integration.
- Improve code reviews, engineering standards, testing strategy, CI/CD workflows, and incident practices.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, lead incident response, and implement durable fixes.
- Partner with product and operational stakeholders to translate needs into technical plans.
- Contribute to backend technical strategy and roadmap planning.
- Mentor engineers and support hiring through interviews and defining engineering standards.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience building scalable backend systems in production environments.
- 4+ years of experience with Go, or equivalent experience writing server-side business logic in Java, Kotlin, C#, Python, C, C++, or Rust with strong systems-design aptitude.
- Experience leading technical initiatives end to end, including architecture, execution, and delivery.
- Experience designing distributed systems, including event-driven architectures, messaging, and consistency tradeoffs.
- Experience building and operating cloud-native services in production; AWS experience is preferred.
- Strong security fundamentals including secure coding, threat modeling, and defensible design.
- Track record of mentoring engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and feedback.
- Strong communication skills and ability to align teams around technical decisions.
- Experience with graph databases such as Neo4j or AWS Neptune is preferred.
- Experience with relational databases such as Postgres, MySQL, or MariaDB and query-performance analysis is preferred.
- Experience with defense, intelligence, or security-focused products, large-scale data processing, ML/AI integrations, open-source contributions, or relevant personal projects is preferred.
