Responsibilities
- Design and automate information security controls, detection mechanisms, and tooling for Algolia’s infrastructure and products.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend information security technologies, techniques, and frameworks.
- Design, implement, and maintain security monitoring and remediation systems protecting customer and company data.
- Partner with engineering and product teams to integrate security into new features, systems, and development pipelines.
- Improve information security standards, processes, and best practices across the company.
- Conduct risk assessments and threat modeling for core systems, services, and third-party vendors.
- Participate in and sometimes lead information security incident response and post-incident analysis.
- Support security and compliance initiatives including SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, C5, and GDPR.
- Manage and enhance Algolia’s public bug bounty and vulnerability disclosure programs.
Requirements
- 3–6 years of experience in information security engineering, infrastructure protection, or related technical domains.
- Proficiency in scripting or automation with Python, Bash, Go, or a similar language is required.
- Experience with Kubernetes is preferred.
- Strong understanding of information security principles in modern cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, as well as datacenter operations.
- At least three years of experience operating, configuring, and managing log management or SIEM, threat detection and posture management, endpoint detection and response, SAST, SOAR, CTI, and related information security systems.
- Strong preference for at least one year of deep experience with CrowdStrike or Obsidian, preferably both.
- Knowledge of common internet security threats, attack vectors, and mitigation strategies.
- Understanding of computer systems, networks, and low-level protocols from an information security perspective.
- Experience in incident detection, response, and vulnerability management.
- Cloud security certifications or equivalent training, such as AWS Security Specialty or GCP Professional Security Engineer, are nice to have.
- Experience with secrets management systems such as HashiCorp Vault is nice to have.
- Background in privacy engineering, threat modeling, or secure software design is beneficial.
- Full professional proficiency in English.
