Base Salary
$175k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain large-scale backend services that deliver configurations and features to autonomous vehicles.
- Build and evolve commercialization tools and systems as Waymo expands into new markets.
- Collaborate with Product, Operations, Data Science, release organizations, and engineering teams.
- Develop robust configuration rollout and fleet deployment processes.
- Enable safe feature launches through evaluation, A/B testing, and gradual rollouts.
- Document technical designs and processes and communicate clearly with cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- 3+ years of experience working on large-scale distributed systems.
- Proven ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries and drive strategic alignment.
- Strong technical documentation and cross-functional communication skills.
- Experience developing mechanisms to detect and prevent configuration or software failures in high-stakes environments.
- Interest in understanding other teams’ needs and proposing infrastructure solutions.
- Experience with C++ is preferred.
- A track record of executing ambitious, forward-looking initiatives is preferred.
- Familiarity with Google infrastructure such as Borg, Protocol Buffers, and Spanner is preferred.
