Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate AWS-based cloud infrastructure and platform services
- Create reusable internal platform capabilities that improve engineering workflows and developer productivity
- Develop and improve deployment tooling, observability, reliability, performance, availability, and maintainability of production systems
- Partner with product engineering to identify recurring needs and deliver scalable platform solutions
- Define and promote platform practices including monitoring, SLOs, incident response, and operational readiness
- Instrument, debug, and improve services and infrastructure, including TypeScript services
- Lead technical initiatives from problem definition through delivery and adoption
- Communicate tradeoffs, risks, and progress to engineering stakeholders
- Mentor engineers and participate in on-call and incident response
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software or infrastructure engineering experience
- Deep production experience with AWS, cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and system design
- Experience building internal platforms, developer tooling, or shared services
- Hands-on Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code experience; Terraform is a plus
- Strong programming and production debugging skills; TypeScript is a plus
- Experience with automated deployment workflows, observability, metrics, logs, traces, alerting, and SLOs
- Experience leading technical initiatives involving multiple stakeholders
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Must reside in British Columbia or Ontario, Canada
